Rolls-Royce has won a $800m (£382m) order for its Trent XWB airline engine.

Aeroplane leasing company International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC) is buying 20 pairs of the engines to power a fleet of 20 Airbus A350 XWB aircraft.

Rolls-Royce chief executive Sir John Rose described the deal for its newest version of the Trent engine as a "significant order" for the UK firm.

US-based ILFC, which supplies many of the world's largest airlines, currently has 61 planes powered by Rolls-Royce.

The latest order will be delivered from 2014.
